A Guide To Selecting Wedding Destinations

Posted on 07. Jun, 2013 by in Honeymoons, Uncategorized

Engaged couples have two choices when it comes to wedding destinations.  They can either have a local wedding or a destination wedding.  Unfortunately, destination weddings come with their own set of challenges.

What Are The Benefits of Having a Destination Wedding?

Generally speaking, destination weddings are much cheaper than local weddings.  This is especially true if couples purchase an all-inclusive wedding packages.  These packages often include the ceremony, flowers, a wedding cake and other extras.  The simpler a package is, the less it will cost.  Package weddings are popular in tropical destinations such as Hawaii, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands.

It is worth noting that Las Vegas has some very cheap wedding packages.  Most people think of Las Vegas as a place couples go to elope.  While this does happen, many couples go there to hold a lavish wedding at reduced prices.

The Drawbacks of a Destination

While a destination wedding is a cheap option for the bride and groom, the event is very expensive for guests.  Guests will have to buy flights, accommodation and wedding gifts.  For this reason, many people will decline to attend.  Couples and singles are more likely to attend these weddings than families as they have more disposable income.  Couples planning this type of wedding should be aware that many of the people they invited may not attend.

Having a wedding in a faraway destination can be a lot of fun.  However, these weddings are best suited for weddings with a small guest list.  Couples should consider the pros and cons of both destination and local weddings before they select a location for their big day.
