All of the Top Three Destinations in California Are Must-sees

Posted on 24. Jan, 2014 by in Vacations

If one were to draw up a list of the top three destinations in California based solely on attendance numbers or other dry statistics, it would be a disservice to a state so packed with incredible things to see and do. San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego are the clear winners as far as cities go, but there are also some of the world’s most amazing natural wonders to consider as well. Choosing just one might be an impossible choice, but here is some info that could help narrow it down.

Taking it all into consideration, San Francisco remains the obvious first pick for destinations in California. San Francisco is an absolute jewel of a city, top to bottom. The dramatic hills put its remarkable architecture and colorful neighborhoods in the spotlight, while offering views far and wide. The fog rolls in majestically, and in clear moments from atop any of its mighty hills one might catch glimpses of sites such as Alcatraz Island, the Bay Bridge, Koit Tower, romantic streetcars chugging up incredibly steep streets, or of course the Golden Gate Bridge, one of America’s most cherished landmarks.

Outdoorsy types can not beat San Francisco as a launchpad, either. Just a short two-and-a-half-hour drive to the south gets you to the gorgeous and dramatic scenery of Big Sur. Three and a half hours to the east is the vast and majestic Yosemite National Park, while a relaxing five-hour stretch to the north lands you in the timeless, awe-inspiring Redwood National Park.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, is not called the City of Angels for nothing. Sparkling with diversity and the kind of frenetic creative energy only Hollywood could generate, Los Angeles boasts beaches, skyscrapers, museums, shopping, and nightlife unlike anywhere else in the world. From Beverly Hills to Venice Beach, the Getty Museum to Disneyland (which is technically in Anaheim, which is still part of the greater Los Angeles area), the attractions are limitless.

After these there is of course still San Diego, a multicultural beach-faring Mecca just a few miles north of the US – Mexico border. Aside from simply soaking up sun and surf and eating some of the best Mexican and other cuisines the US has to offer, the city is also home to the world-class San Diego Zoo, as well as SeaWorld, home of the Shamu killer whale shows.
