Dispelling Some Common Traveling Rumors

Posted on 24. Jan, 2014 by in Vacations

Traveling can be one of the most therapeutic things a working individual can do. Going on vacation can clear your mind, allowing you to relax and take a break from your stressful life. However, traveling can be even more enjoyable if you learn to avoid some of the pitfalls of some of the untrue traveling rumors and myths that have come up over the years. Here are some of the common things that you hear that, if you ignore, you can enjoy your vacation as much as possible.

One of the most common things you hear is that driving to your destination is always less expensive than flying. This can be true in some scenarios, but is not necessarily always the case. If you have five children and are within a day away from Disneyland, driving will likely be the less expensive option. However, if you and your spouse are looking to get away for your anniversary, you may find that flying ends up being less expensive. You do not need to worry about paying for gas or food along the way, which saves you money in that way.

Another of the traveling rumors you hear quite frequently is that, when vacationing in a city, it is always less expensive to stay in a hotel in the suburbs. While the overall cost of the hotel may be less expensive, you also need to factor in the cost of commuting into the city when you want to participate in activities, along with parking. Also factor in the stress of driving around a major city that you are likely not familiar with, and overall, staying downtown might be a much better option.

There are many traveling rumors that go around, and you may hear many of them prior to going on a vacation. While some of these rumors may have some foundation in the truth, get to the bottom of your situation and see if an alternative might apply for you.
