Four Decisions That Can Make or Break Your Honeymoon

Posted on 11. May, 2015 by in Honeymoons, Vacations

It is one of the most important trips of your life. So much of the planning of a wedding is about your guests – the menu, the seating, the reception entertainment – but your honeymoon is just about you and your soon-to-be spouse. Here are five decisions that can make all the difference when it comes to planning the honeymoon of your dreams:

1. When to Go

Timing should factor into your choice of destination. Find out what weather concerns exist in the places you are considering, and avoid setting yourself up for possible problems – like hurricane season. Also remember that while you may be anxious to start your dream trip, the day after your wedding may not be the best for travel. You do not want to arrive at your destination exhausted.

2. Where to Go

Be sure to examine your travel personalities before choosing a destination – if one likes “commando style” trips packed with activity while the other wants little more than to walk from the hotel to the beach and back, you will have to compromise. Remember that the trip is about your time together as a couple; choose a destination where you can enjoy each other as much as you enjoy the sights.

3. How Much to Spend

Identify a few key priorities based on what you enjoy most together, and then cut back in other areas without sacrificing the overall experience. If you love romantic dinners, splurge on fabulous restaurant sat night and take some long walks together during the day; if you are both adventure seekers, plan excursions during the day and share romantic picnics in place of a few restaurant meals. Strike a balance between planning a dreamy trip and starting married life in the red.

4. How to Plan for Contingencies

While you might think that you will not let anyone or anything stop you from getting on that plane, the importance of this trip is all the more reason why you should leave nothing to chance. Purchase trip insurance or have a plan B in the event you cannot travel as intended.

These tips can help you avoid common pitfalls and ensure that your honeymoon is a fabulous, romantic getaway.
