Plan Ahead for your Holiday Travels

Posted on 11. Oct, 2013 by in Vacations

The holiday season is fast approaching. Whether you are going home to spend time with friends and family or you are traveling to an exotic location to avoid the hustle and bustle that goes along with this time of the year, you need to start planning for your holiday travels. You might be reading this and thinking, so soon? Yes! Early planning can lower your travel costs and your stress levels.

For example, scheduling your trip to begin or end at off hours or even on days of the week that are less traveled can save you time and money. Early morning flights usually arrive and depart on schedule so your boarding and wait times will be significantly less. As for the bargain days of the week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the days with the least amount of passengers, but surprisingly, Saturdays can also bring a drop in price. No one wants to end their weekend early so they usually travel on Sunday. Even if you do not want to book your flight right now, you can still save money if you return from your trip, the week after the holiday.

Shop around for bargains. There are plenty of websites that allow you to compare flight prices and hotel rates. More popular locations often offer packages for the holidays, combining your stay and your transportation for a discounted price. You can even search for smaller airports that will allow you to find improved fares and better travel times.

Holiday travels can be expensive and leave you stressed, but a little bit of planning ahead can make all the difference.
