Whether you are headed to a major U.S. destination, frequently travel for work or pleasure, or you and your family are trying to get home for the holidays, you are bound to pass through one of the nation’s central hubs at some point in your travels. From Atlanta to Lost Angeles, here are the five most popular airports in the United States.

1. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

The busiest airport in the U.S., the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily serves visitors of the Southeastern states. This bustling hub has 151 gates serving domestic flights, and 28 international gates. 3. Los Angeles International Airport

Popularly known as LAX, the Los Angeles International airport serves the greater Los Angeles area, the second most populated metropolitan region in the United States. In 2012 LAX was the 6th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, and in September 2013 the airport opened a new international terminal to handle frequent air traffic to and from Asia and the Pacific.

4. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

As of June 2013, Dallas/Fort Worth International had a total of 200 destinations serviced, including 148 domestic and 52 international destinations. This international airport is a hub for American Airlines, and has recently been recognized as one of the nation’s most tech-friendly airports.
