Travel To Europe And Expand Your Horizons

Posted on 22. Jul, 2013 by in Travel Accessories

Visiting Europe is a great way to see amazing sights and experience other cultures. The United States is a very new country compared to many countries in Europe.  A trip to Europe can provide a greater appreciation for history. Here are two memorable attractions to see when you travel to Europe.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace was built in London in 1705 and is the home of the British Monarch.  The Palace is a very impressive, sweeping structure. You can begin to get a sense of the breadth and depth of the history of the British Royal Family when looking at it.  It is open to the public for tours in August and September, but is a very popular attraction year round.  The changing of the guard ceremony takes place outside of the palace at 11:30 every day during the summer and every other day during the winter.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is located in the center of Rome. It was constructed between 72 and 80 A.D. and is the largest Roman amphitheater ever built.  It is a very impressive example of Roman architecture. Over 500,000 people and 1 million animals are believed to have died in games at the Colosseum during the height of the Roman Empire.  The Colosseum was able to seat 50,000 people and it had 76 different entrances.

Buckingham Palace and The Colosseum are two historic places to visit when you travel to Europe.
